The September Supermoon
Sep 11, 2014
Last Tuesday saw the third and final 'supermoon' of this year, which involved the full moon rising at almost exactly the same time as the sun set, with the moon being closest to the earth. I used the excellent Photographer's Ephemeris app and the BBC's weather app to work out that if I stood at a certain point on the south bank of the Thames in London and looked towards Canary Wharf at 7:28 pm, providing the clouds cleared as the weather app said they would, the rising supermoon should be visible.
I love it when a plan comes together (as many don't!). The images I got can be seen in the New Images gallery (link).
